Aims and Scope
The Civil Engineering Science and Technology Journal (CESTJ) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah. The journal aims to disseminate original research and scientific reviews in the fields of Civil engineering science and technology, with a focus on innovation and practical applications that advance engineering knowledge especially Modern sustainability methodologies.
CESTJ aims to contribute to with the rapid propagation of scholarly work by offering writers with a faster publication process and increased visibility among a worldwide audience of engineers, scientists, academics, professionals, and stakeholders from many sectors.
This multidisciplinary platform is designed to assist individuals involved in the research, development, and application of structural, geotechnical, water resources, and construction management engineering principles in academic institutions, industrial settings, governmental bodies, and consultative or policy-making organizations. Engineers, academics, consultants, economists, policy advisers, and business decision-makers are among those who read this publication.
To be considered for publication, submissions must display scientific rigor, methodological soundness, and clarity of presentation. Conclusions must be supported by detailed and rigorous data analysis. The editorial review prioritizes originality, relevance, and possible effect in the field. As a result, CESTJ supports the submission of niche research, exploratory investigations, and publications with non-confirmatory or negative findings, as long as they contribute substantially to existing knowledge.
The journal’s extensive subject coverage enables an integrated approach to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research. Submissions must be sent to CESTJ for exclusive consideration.
Subject areas include, but are not limited to:
• Structural Engineering
• Geotechnical Engineering
• Transportation Engineering
• Water Resources and Environmental Engineering
• Construction Engineering and Management

Peer Review Policy – Overview
CESTJ is a biannual publication, releasing its issues in June and December.
The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial examination of all submitted papers to ensure they are aligned with the journal’s stated objectives and scope, as well as meeting the fundamental requirements of academic and methodological quality. Submissions that are judged appropriate are subsequently transmitted for external peer assessment.

Submissions that are judged appropriate are subsequently transmitted for external peer assessment.
Following peer review, the Editor-in-Chief is solely responsible for the ultimate decision on acceptance, amendment, or rejection. If modifications are required, authors will get thorough feedback and must submit a new paper addressing the reviewers’ and editor’s suggestions within 4 to 8 weeks. In rare situations, amended submissions may be subjected to an extra round of peer review to verify that all issues have been adequately addressed.
Following final acceptance, modest editing changes may be asked to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with publishing standards.
While the journal strives for rapid judgments, delays may arise owing to a lack of qualified reviewers. In such circumstances, authors may be encouraged to suggest other experts who can act as reviewers, subject to journal permission.
Open Access and Copyright Policy
An open access methodology ensures that all CESTJ papers are promptly and permanently accessible to the public. Articles are free to read, download, share, and reuse under the restrictions of Creative Commons license.
The author(s) retain the copyright for each published piece. Furthermore, writers provide third parties unfettered use of their work as long as the content stays unchanged, correct acknowledgment is given to the original authors, citation information are kept, and CESTJ is clearly identified as the publisher.
Abstracting and Indexing
Indexing in major academic databases is a gradual process that takes place over time as a journal builds its presence and reputation in the scholarly community. The CESTJ actively seeks inclusion in reputable indexing and abstracting services to increase the exposure and accessibility of its published information.
Readers and contributors will receive regular updates on new indexing advances.
Currently, CESTJ is indexed in the following databases and platforms:
• Google Scholar
• ResearchGate
• Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals
