MANUSCRIPTS CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Civil Engineering Science and Technology Journal (CESTJ) accepts the following types of manuscript submissions:
1. Original Research Article
Original research publications must contain detailed and well-structured investigations. These manuscripts should include the following sections: an abstract, an introduction, a system description, a methodology or modeling approach, an experimental setup (including feature tables, installation procedures, and scenario outlines), procedural details (practical or simulated), graphical or tabular results, a discussion of findings, conclusions, and references. Authors can use a sample article for formatting guidelines.
2. Review Article
Review articles provide a comprehensive assessment of the current literature relevant to the journal’s topic areas. They are required to synthesize essential concepts, describe noteworthy breakthroughs, and cite all relevant earlier work. These articles may also feature comparative analyses and discussions of study findings. Although review articles do not often include new research, their value stems from their clarity, depth, and usability as a fundamental resource for researchers and practitioners in the subject.
3. Short Communication
Short articles are succinct summaries of original research that reveal unique discoveries of general interest to the journal’s readership. These papers should include an abstract, a brief introduction highlighting the study’s relevance, a succinct description of the methodology and experimental methods, a discussion of the results, conclusions, and references. A brief article should have a maximum length of 4,000 words.
Each paper must be written in accordance with the journal’s formatting rules and properly classified at the time of submission.
PUBLICATION ETHICS AND PUBLICATION MALPRACTICE POLICY
Ethical Principles
CESTJ follows the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All submitted articles must adhere to these guidelines, ensuring that the study is done and published accurately. Authors must affirm that their work is free of unethical behaviors such as plagiarism, data falsification, incorrect authorship allocation, duplicate submission, undeclared conflicts of interest, and unethical research conduct.
Reviewers are likewise subject to ethical duties. They must keep submitted manuscripts secret and disclose any potential conflicts of interest that might affect their decision.
CESTJ maintains the right to investigate alleged misbehavior, including contacting connected institutions, funding agencies, and appropriate authorities. To discover potential ethical violations, submitted articles are examined for similarities using the EDAS platform.
Authors are responsible for responding to editorial inquiries and must be available even after publication to react to criticisms or give clarifications. Furthermore, writers are urged to place supporting research resources (e.g., datasets, software, protocols) in publicly available repositories and must provide a data availability statement with links to the repositories.
Peer Review and Manuscript Acceptance
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment of manuscripts to ensure that they are within the scope of the journal, adhere to ethical standards, and follow submission rules. Subsequently, applications undergo a single-blind peer assessment by experienced reviewers. The final acceptance choices are based on the reviewers’ evaluations. For more information, see to the journal’s Peer Review Policy .
Authorship and Contributions
Manuscripts must properly identify all contributing authors, including their full names, affiliations, and contact information. The order of authorship should be mutually agreed upon based on intellectual contribution, academic standing, or project leadership. All listed authors must have contributed substantially to the study and bear equal responsibility for the content’s validity and correctness.
The author’s information must also be entered accurately during manuscript registration on the EDAS system. Authors will get confirmation after successfully registering and can address any concerns about authorship disputes through proper means.
Complaints and Appeals Process
Appeals related to editorial decisions, such as manuscript rejections, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals will be evaluated based on merit, possibly involving an independent review. The final decision will be communicated to the author and is considered binding.
Operational complaints (e.g., delays) will be reviewed by the editorial team, with feedback provided to improve internal workflows.
Ethical concerns, including allegations against authors or reviewers, will be addressed per CESTJ’s ethical guidelines and may involve consultation with the publisher or external experts.
Authors may contact the journal regarding any of the above matters via email at: ammardakhil@cestj.edu.iq

“The authors declare no conflicts of interest relevant to this work.”
Data Sharing and Reproducibility
The authors are strongly invited to contribute any important research data, both raw and processed, as well as the methods, tools, and materials utilized in the study. The article must include a data availability declaration and direct repository URLs.
Ethical Oversight
Consistent with COPE’s definition, CESTJ requires strict ethical oversight regarding human and animal research, informed consent, data confidentiality, and vulnerable populations. All study must adhere to accepted ethical norms. The editorial board will investigate any accusations of ethical violations and may act on suggestions from monitoring bodies.

Third parties may utilize content as long as correct citation is followed and the work’s integrity is kept.

CESTJ reserves the right to examine and address ethical concerns that arise after publication. Depending on the results of these studies, the journal may:
- Reject or retract the manuscript
- Issue a correction or expression of concern
- Contact the authors’ affiliated institutions
Retractions will be explicitly identified, with explanations offered. CESTJ accepts author name changes for genuine reasons, such as gender transformation or religious conversion.
It is important to note that any authorship issues that arise during or after peer review must be handled by the people concerned. The journal will not mediate such conflicts, but may remove the manuscript or contact the institutional authorities if necessary.
